Mr. Silly Himselfâ–ş
Just why did the voters send Mark Parkinson to the Mo House of Representatives? We're sure it was not to bring embarrassment to his district. We're sure it was not to waste taxpayer funds on frivolous bills. We're sure it was not to ACT SILLY . But even Parkinson himself acknowledges that it was a silly thing to do.
Here's a few thoughts from a Kansas City Blog called injuryboard.com

The author poses the question, "Did Representative Parkinson make an effective point or is this bill just a waste of state resources for a partisan attack?" In a time when the budget is in desperate condition, it hardly seems worth wasting taxpayers' funds (to research, draft, enroll & engross, print, and debate) a bill like this if all he wanted to do was make a political point. That is what press releases are for...and those do not cost much except the paper it was printed on.

"According to St. Louis Public Radio, Rep. Parkinson acknowledges that his proposal is "silly".
"The bill is silly! So I'm making my point as loudly as I can across the state of Missouri that we have to budget based on reality, not based on hope," Parkinson said.
Parkinson does not expect his legislation to advance.
When asked for a comment, a spokesman for Governor Nixon said that the bill was, "not worth commenting on."
I don't normally comment on politics (you know the old saying), and I won't do so here either. I'll leave it to you, the readers, to offer comments.
What do you think? Did Representative Parkinson make an effective point or is this bill just a waste of state resources for a partisan attack?
