The 27th Annual First Capitol Day on Friday. June 12th was a huge success.  St. Charles County was graced by the presence of three statewide leaders, State Treasurer Clint Zweifel, Governor Jay Nixon, and Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.   Each one spoke and gave the overflow crowd at Trigg an overview of their work in Jefferson City since the election. The annual James C Kirkpatrick Award for service to the Democratic Party was given to Central Committee Chairman, Tommy Roberts.  He was very surprised and for a very short time he was speechless.  But after a time to recover from the news he was able to give introduction to various guests from outside of St. Charles County: St. Louis County executive Charlie Dooley, State Representatives Gina Walsh, Jeff Roorda, Bruce Darrough, Ed Schieffer, St. Louis County Central Committee Chair and Mayor of Hazelwood Matt Robinson and many more.

Robin Carnahan, who is the Democratic candidate for US Senate for Missouri was able to spend time before the dinner in conversations around the crowded room with the individual attendees.  The MO State party is counting on strong support for Robin in St. Charles County, especially in light of her very high numbers for the Secretary of State race last November.  55.7% of the voters in St. Charles County voted for her in 2008.  It was a great night of celebration for St. Charles County Democrats.
